The Council of Nordic Trade Unions is holding its 5th Nordic Trade Union Congress on 22–23 September.
The overall theme of the congress is: "Together we are strong - The union as the first line of defense."
The congress will be held in the historic Paasitorni in Helsinki. The opening session will take place on Tuesday, 22 September, starting at around 1:00 p.m. We expect to finish around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 23 September.
The main theme is the geo- and security-political situation in the Nordic region and the Arctic. New geopolitical tensions are affecting our societies, infrastructure and labor markets. The question is not whether working life is affected, but how well equipped we are. In a time of uncertainty, the union is part of society's first line of defense. Through strong organization, secure conditions and functioning party models, we contribute to stability, preparedness and endurance in critical sectors and industries.
The focus will be on:
- The geo- and security situation with a focus on the Arctic: What affects us and what can we influence?
- Supply and preparedness capacity in a working life perspective
- Nordic security policy cooperation in a trade union perspective
With a special Nordic perspective, we explore how our cooperation can be strengthened in a time where borders are taking on new meaning – where solidarity across borders is more important than ever. Because when society is tested, working life is also tested. We meet at the congress to discuss what we can do in our Nordic trade union cooperation – together.
NFS member organizations are invited to participate with their board members and five additional delegates per organization. The Nordic industry federations are invited to participate with two representatives each. If you would like more participants, please let us know as soon as possible and we will try to arrange it.
Save the dates in your calendar now! The invitation with registration and more information will come later in the spring.
See you in Helsinki!
